An overview of process model quality literature - The Comprehensive Process Model Quality Framework

    Get PDF
The rising interest in the construction and the quality of (business) process models resulted in an abundancy of emerged research studies and different findings about process model quality. The lack of overview and the lack of consensus hinder the development of the research field. The research objective is to collect, analyse, structure, and integrate the existing knowledge in a comprehensive framework that strives to find a balance between completeness and relevance without hindering the overview. The Systematic Literature Review methodology was applied to collect the relevant studies. Because several studies exist that each partially addresses this research objective, the review was performed at a tertiary level. Based on a critical analysis of the collected papers, a comprehensive, but structured overview of the state of the art in the field was composed. The existing academic knowledge about process model quality was carefully integrated and structured into the Comprehensive Process Model Quality Framework (CPMQF). The framework summarizes 39 quality dimensions, 21 quality metrics, 28 quality (sub)drivers, 44 (sub)driver metrics, 64 realization initiatives and 15 concrete process model purposes related to 4 types of organizational benefits, as well as the relations between all of these. This overview is thus considered to form a valuable instrument for both researchers and practitioners that are concerned about process model quality. The framework is the first to address the concept of process model quality in such a comprehensive way

We present a novel driver circuit enabling electro-optic modulation with high extinction ratio from a co-designed silicon ring modulator. The driver circuit provides an asymmetric differential output at 10Gbps with a voltage swing up to 1.5V(pp) from a single 1.0V supply, maximizing the resonance-wavelength shift of depletion-type ring modulators while avoiding carrier injection. A test chip containing 4 reconfigurable driver circuits was fabricated in 40nm CMOS technology. The measured energy consumption for driving a 100fF capacitive load at 10Gbps was as low as 125fJ/bit and 220fJ/bit at 1V(pp) and 1.5V(pp) respectively. After flip-chip integration with ring modulators on a silicon-photonics chip, the power consumption was measured to be 210fJ/bit and 350fJ/bit respectively

Steroid profiling in male wobbler mouse, a model of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

The Wobbler mouse is an animal model for human motoneuron diseases, especially amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), used in the investigation of both pathology and therapeutic treatment. ALS is a fatal neurodegenerative disease, characterized by the selective and progressive death of motoneurons, leading to progressive paralysis. Previous limited studies have reported steroidal hormone dysregulation in Wobbler mouse and in ALS patients, suggesting endocrine dysfunctions which may be involved in the pathogenesis of the disease. In this study, we established a steroid profiling in brain, spinal cord, plasma, adrenal glands, and testes in 2-month-old male Wobbler mice and their littermates by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. Our results show in Wobbler mice the following: 1) a marked up-regulation of corticosterone levels in adrenal glands, plasma, spinal cord regions (cervical, thoracic, lumbar) and brain; 2) a strong decrease in T levels in the testis, plasma, spinal cord, and brain; and 3) increased levels of progesterone and especially of its reduced metabolites 5α-dihydroprogesterone, allopregnanolone, and 20α-dihydroprogesterone in the brain, spinal cord, and adrenal glands. Furthermore, Wobbler mice showed a hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal hypoactivity. Interestingly, plasma concentrations of corticosterone and T correlate well with their respective levels in cervical spinal cord in both control and Wobbler mice. T down-regulation is probably the consequence of adrenal hyperactivity, and the up-regulation of progesterone and its reduced metabolites may correspond to an endogenous protective mechanism in response to motoneuron degeneration. Our findings suggest that increased levels of corticosterone and decreased levels of T in plasma could be a signature of motoneuron degeneration.Fil: Gonzalez Deniselle, Maria Claudia. Constraining the nuclear equation of state at subsaturation densities

    Get PDF
Only one third of the nucleons in 208^{208}Pb occupy the saturation density area. Consequently nuclear observables related to average properties of nuclei, such as masses or radii, constrain the equation of state (EOS) not at saturation density but rather around the so-called crossing density, localised close to the mean value of the density of nuclei: ρ\rho\simeq0.11 fm3^{-3}. This provides an explanation for the empirical fact that several EOS quantities calculated with various functionals cross at a density significantly lower than the saturation one. The third derivative M of the energy at the crossing density is constrained by the giant monopole resonance (GMR) measurements in an isotopic chain rather than the incompressibility at saturation density. The GMR measurements provide M=1110 ±\pm 70 MeV (6% uncertainty), whose extrapolation gives K_\infty=230 ±\pm 40 MeV (17% uncertainty).Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure

Fruit flies are major pest in West Africa. In Côte-d'Ivoire, they caused heavy losses. Thus, preventive measures are taken to reduce their damage. The objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of Success Appat® and Proteus 170 O-TEQ against fruit. Traps baited with sexual attractants were set in mango orchards and their contents were collected each week. Bait and insecticide were renewed each month. Three orchards were treated with Success Appat® and three with Proteus 170 O-TEQ, respectively and their untreated orchards were selected. Mangoes were collected in treated and untreated orchards to assess the attack and infestation rates of orchards. Eight species of fruit flies were recorded. Bactrocera invadens was highly captured in different orchards. Orchards treated with Success Appat® have a lower rates of attack (11.7 ± 3.52%) and infection (02.32 ± 1.6 pupae/ kg.f) than the untreated orchards, (41.05 ± 7.6%) and (34.4 ± 8.18 pupae/ kg.f), respectively. Equally, orchards treated with Proteus 170 O-TEQ showed lower rates of attack (13.59 ± 5.38%) and infection (05.86 ± 4.08 pupae/ kg.f) than untreated (47.37 ± 10.95%) and (44.72 ± 15.64 pupae/ kg.f), respectively. Insecticides Success Appat® and Proteus 170 O-TEQ significantly reduced the damage of fruit flies in orchards. (Résumé d'auteur

Abondance des mouches des fruits dans les zones de production fruitières de Côte d'Ivoire : dynamique des populations de Bactrocera invadens (Diptera : Tephritidae)

Introduction. Conclusion. Des études complémentaires sur la biologie et le comportement de ce ravageur s'avéreront nécessaires pour l'application des méthodes de lutte optimale en vergers en Afrique de l'Ouest et, plus particulièrement, en Côte d'Ivoire. Contract Aware Components, 10 years after

    Get PDF
The notion of contract aware components has been published roughly ten years ago and is now becoming mainstream in several fields where the usage of software components is seen as critical. The goal of this paper is to survey domains such as Embedded Systems or Service Oriented Architecture where the notion of contract aware components has been influential. For each of these domains we briefly describe what has been done with this idea and we discuss the remaining challenges.Comment: In Proceedings WCSI 2010, arXiv:1010.233
